Your lovely home is slowly being seriously damaged by insects
If you are at home, right now, in a room that you use a lot just stand up and have a good look at your ceilings. Especially around the lights……go on do it.
How does it look?
If it looks less than perfect,it probably has flyspots. You probably haven’t really noticed since they slowly increase but think about how your invited guests and visitors regard your mucky ceilings.
What you are looking at is a problem that is only going to get worse and more expensive with time, reason being that flyspots are very acidic and are slowly burning into your paint!.
Why are they so acidic?
The reason flyspots are so acidic stems from the way houseflies eat.
A housefly lands on food and vomits on the food, this vomit is very acidic and breaks down the food to a liquid. Flies do not have a mouth, instead they have a probiscis, which is like a large straw. It then sucks up the vomit and broken down food through it’s probiscis, so when it poos this is very acidic as well, when this sits on ceiling paint for a while it actually burns holes into the paint.
If you rub ugly flyspots off the ceiling you have rubbed down through the paint where the fly poo has burnt down to and consequently damaged your paint finish leaving rub-marks in the paint that are more noticeable at a distance than the original flyspots!
If you try to paint over them, the ceiling looks great until the acidic fly poo burns through the new paint finish! This can be in a matter of hours. How frustrating!.
Especially after all that effort because the toughest surface to paint is ceilings. That is why professional painters charge SO much for this work – plus the fact that they would have to use a sealcoat before painting to prevent fly poo bleeding through. Sealcoat is more expensive than the actual paint.
So what to do?
You cannot just ignore the problem because a housefly on average does it’s “business” every five minutes. So the problem is only going to get worse. Much worse!
